and there's no rain...

It's a sunny Sunday again. The skies are blue and full of wispy white clouds. The birds are chirping happily in their sparsely dispersed treetops. The grass is green where there is grass and the cars and trucks are passing by on their merry ways to somewhere.

And yet, I wish for rain. I feel like the weather has blessed us with precipitation maybe three times since the winter and I'm pretty sure we are in a drought period right now.

The reason I wish for rain the most, though, is because I miss the dreary days when I don't feel obligated to go outside because it is gorgeous, when I don't feel trapped in my office while the world whirls with springtime warmth, when I'm not expected to feel peppy and good-natured just because of the bright light shining from the sky. Not that I wish for any of these pretty days to disappear, but I think there is sense in the old adage "all things in moderation." If it never rains, how can we appreciate the sun? And, more importantly, if it never rains, how can I justify staying inside all day on a weekend and watching movies all afternoon?

I'll work on that...
